Exploring profound themes of mortality, ontology, love, friendship, mental illness and religion, Pilgrims was inspired by the people around Mock Deer. The EP represents a cathartic form of artistic expression grounded in his personal experiences.
Mock Deer (Ricky Damiani) is a musician, singer and songwriter based in London. Although much of his life has been spent in North Wales and Manchester, he has become an integral part of the capital’s independent music scene via his prolific work with fellow artists from the city and beyond. He has toured extensively in Europe and shared the stage with artists such as Willy Mason and Joan Shelley.
Mock Deer has released several EPs and composed original music for TV and theatre. His debut album The Art of Loneliness — recorded with producer and long-time collaborator Scott Fitzgerald — was released in February 2020 to excellent reviews from the UK music press. His latest EP Pilgrims solidifies Mock Deer as one of art-rock/psych-folk’s most compelling and introspective songwriters.
